About This Trip

Spend five days exploring Nebraska's Central Platte River & Frontier Trails Region, where every spring the amazing Sandhill Cranes migrate through. In the area there is other bird watching opportunities, lots of sightseeing to be done and some top notch restaurants. The best month of the year to take this trip is March.

Day 1: Travel to Kearney

Visit The Archway in Kearney

Eat Supper at Alley Rose in Kearney

Lodging: Candlewood Suites in Kearney

Day 2: Early morning watching the Sandhill Cranes at Rowe Sanctuary near Gibbon

Spend the day at Pioneer Village and in Minden

End the day watching the Sandhill Cranes at Rowe Sanctuary near Gibbon

Day 3: Enjoy coffee and breakfast at Tru Cafe in Kearney

Spend time at MONA in Kearney

Eat lunch at Flippin Sweet in Kearney

Head to Harlan County Resevoir to see pelicans

End the day watching the Sandhill Cranes at the Crane Trust near Wood River

Lodging: Hampton Inn in Grand Island

Day 4: Early morning watching the Sandhill Cranes at the Crane Trust near Wood River

Stop in at the Raising Nebraska Buidling on the State Fair grounds in Grand Island

Eat lunch at Napoli's in Grand Island

Spend the afternoon at the Stuhr Musuem in Grand Island or at the Wessels Living History Farm in York

Enjoy Supper at Chances R in York

Day 5: Head home
