About This Destination

The John G. Neihardt State Historic Site, a branch museum of the Nebraska State Historical Society, is dedicated to preserving and promoting the life and work of John G. Neihardt, Poet Laureate of Nebraska in Perpetuity and author of numerous works, including "Black Elk Speaks," recently selected as the 2017 One Book One Nebraska.

The Site features an educational center, museum, research library and special exhibits, Sacred Hoop Prayer Garden, historic study, weekly "Sunday at the Museum" programs and special events.
