Spanning a sizeable chunk of the Great Plains, the Cowboy Recreation and Nature Trail offers a wide range of experiences: Walk, cycle, distance running or even horseback. The trail passes through 30 communities of varying sizes and offerings, most located 10-15 miles apart on the trail. Most have a place to camp & resupply. Use the QR code on town signs along the trail for local visitor information and events.
-The trail's is mostly constructed of crushed, compacted limestone & wood-decked bridges, creating a reliably smooth riding surface.-Class I, II, III e-bikes are permitted.
-Generally, mountain or hybrid bikes - or anything with a wider tire – are best for riding the Cowboy Trail.
-At times, Puncturevine (goathead) seeds are carried by wind/wildlife onto the trail. These sharp obstacles are unavoidable & cyclists should consider bringing spare tire tubes
-All horseback riders are required to ride in the mowed right-of-way to the side of the trail and stay off the limestone surface.Facility Amenities
