"Short Days Ago We Lived" Memorial Day Ceremony

Come early for free pancakes, juice & coffee and stay for a most memorable ceremony to help you remember WHY this day is marked to Remember Our Fallen. 8-9:30am - Free Pancakes, Coffee and Juice donated by HyVee and served by Anchor Corps volunteers 9:50am - Sky Divers 10am - Ceremony with reenactors portraying an area fallen from our nation's past wars. The National "Remembering Our Fallen" memorial with photos of over 5,000 of America's post-9/11 Fallen will be at Memorial Park, along with "Flanders Field of Flags," made up of 1,300 flags representing the 1,300,000 Americans killed in her wars, the half-sized replica of the "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier" and a 22-foot Purple Heart balloon. Military organizations will also be there with displays of equipment and vehicles. 1,000 chairs will be placed under a tent or you are welcome to bring your own. Volunteers on golf carts will be zipping around the park to assist people in getting to the ceremony area near Dodge Street.
