Village of Table Rock

Social:
The Village of Table Rock, incorporated in 1860, offers a peek into small town history. In the center of the village, the Public Square Historic District is arrayed around a five-acre public square. The Square is a grassy tree-filled park that was dedicated in 1882, with a bandstand added in 1900. Around the Square are buildings going back to the 1880s, including the 1893 bank building, still in use. East of town, large stone formations can be reached by a short hike from the highway. South of town, a smoke stack rises high above the trees where a brick factory stood. In the north of town is the village cemetery. There, a civil war monument honors over 50 Civil War veterans who are at rest here. Look for epitaphs, such as those of Anna Work and John N. Gere, and see a mysterious limestone slab carved with the date 1858.
