A Gem of a State Park

Heavy rains the night before our visit made taking some of the rugged hiking trails we planned on not possible. Nevertheless we still enjoyed spending several hours in the park. We first took in Indian Cave, drove the scenic loop, walked through one of the two cemeteries in the park and the St. Deroin settlement and picnicked. A highlight was the archery range. Fortunately we had brought my son's bow and arrow on the trip. He and my husband thoroughly enjoyed shooting arrows for close to an hour. Overall the park felt very peaceful and we've already recommended it to friends in Iowa.
