History Encompass Ash Hollow State Historical Park

A Spring in the vicinity of Ash Hollow Cave made it an attractive site for periodic human habitation. The cave has revealed at least four distinct indigenous cultures occupied this area for a period of more than 1,500 years. In 1964 Ash Hollow Cave was named a National Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Years later, this valley and its spring water became an important stop for emigrants making their way west. There are Organ Trail makers at Ash Hollow SHP in Garden County. The wagon's ruts are still visible in the bluffs surrounding the spring.
