Pizza. Probably one of the most recognizable foods, yet there are so many variations and customizations. At this point, pizza is a creative expression and an experience, and there are some places in Nebraska that just do it better. This list of pizza places is a great place to start your own pizza journey. 

West

While it may not be the traditional first stop for good pizza, there are multiple places in Western Nebraska that serve a little slice of heaven. The Twisted Turtle Pub in Rushville has a variety of unique flavors such as Messy Mac, Reuben, and the Sandhill Surfer named after the Nebraska Sandhills. Pals Brewing Company in North Platte is not only known for their beers, wines and ciders but also for their pizza. Scottsbluff also features a brewery that serves great pizza. Flyover Brewing Co. serves wood fired pies in a wide array of flavors like wild mushroom and jalapeño popper along with a make your own option. One more unique place for a slice  in the west is Village Pizza in Hemingford. Stop in Tuesday through Saturday to try a unique daily special.

Sandhills

While everyone knows them for the rolling hills of sand and grass, there are a few hidden gems of pizza places hidden within those hills. One of the most recommended pizza places west of Lincoln is Pizza Palace in Burwell. With 16 specialty options and the option to create your own, Pizza Palace is always highly rated by visitors. In Valentine, you can find Old Mill, which specializes in pizza and sandwiches and is perfect for a delicious lunch. One more place to stop by for a slice is The Tipsy Pine Pizza Pub in Long Pine. With an extensive pizza and pasta menu, The Tipsy Pine Pizza Pub makes for a great Italian night.

South Central

One of the most iconic places to get pizza in Grand Island is Wave Pizza Co. With their very memorable shark head outside, you can’t miss it. And with many coastal themed pizzas, there is always a new topping combo to try. A budget-friendly option in Kearney is The Tasty Tiger. Specializing in Detroit style pan pizza, the rectangular pizza is sure to satisfy your craving. For classic pizza in Hastings, stop by Mike’s Pizza for a classic slice or calzone and choose all your favorite toppings. 

Wave Pizza in Grand Island

Southeast

McCool Junction features Junction Pizza Co., a mom-and-pop pizzeria using only fresh never frozen ingredients. Junction Pizza Co. is the heart of hometown vibes. In Cortland , you can find Schro Bros Pizza, a family-owned restaurant established in 2022. With pizza options from breakfast to dill pickle,  there is always a new topping combo in the works.


Lincoln, being the second largest city in Nebraska, has many pizza options to choose from. MoMo Pizzeria & Ristorante is considered a more high-end pizza and Italian place while still being affordable. If you are not in the mood for pizza you can also choose from their equally large pasta menu. Vic’s Pizza is another great pizza option in Lincoln. With a smaller curated menu, you know that everything listed is bound to be one of their best products. There is a pizza place that has two locations within the city. Yia Yia’s specializes in thin crust specialty pizza. With specialties inspired by different places around the world, there is always a flavor that tastes like home.

Northeast

For delicious sharable pizza in Norfolk, visit District Table & Tap. With a variety of rectangular flatbread options, the pizza is perfect for sharing. For some of the best artisan pizza in Nebraska, visit NoFo Pizza & Café also in Norfolk. Handcrafted wood-fired pizzas are filled with flavor from many local ingredients. In Ponca , you can find Outlaw Pizza with a wild west atmosphere in a Midwest state. Even the specialty pizzas are themed with names such as Six Shooter, Gunslinger, Swindler and Jessie James. For a smaller but equally delicious menu , visit Black Market Pizza in Columbus. There is a whole section of the menu that is dedicated to Mexican style pizzas that feature traditionally Mexican ingredients.

For wood-fired pizza inspired by Italian tradition is up your alley, visit Dante in Omaha. With more than 25 farm partners in the Midwest with seasonal produce, Chef Nick Strawhecker introduces a new menu each week. If you’re looking for a brunch option in Omaha, make your way to Pitch for breakfast pizza, but if you miss brunch time, stop at Pitch during their regular hours for their traditional and specialty options. In Downtown Omaha you can find Via Farina, a locally sourced place for handmade pasta and sourdough crust pizza. Lyle’s Pizzeria is named after the most loving dog in the Metro , because if dogs are man’s best friend, then pizza is man’s best food. With their classic menu, Lyle’s really proves that to be true. If you want a truly customized pizza, go to Lighthouse Pizza & Fries, where you can build your own pizza step-by-step. If that intimidates you though, there are also premade flavor combinations. One more wood-fired sourdough pizza place to try in Omaha is Dolomiti Pizzeria & Enoteca. With a Northern Italian influence, even on classics like pepperoni, all pizzas are sure to feel more authentic.


One more place in the Metro to try is Grace Pizza and Shakes in the heart of downtown Papillion. With 16 flavor combinations and a build your own option all cooked on a brick deck, Grace Pizza and Shakes is going to be a new family favorite.
