Truly a national treasure, the Niobrara National Scenic River is home to outstanding river recreation and much more. What makes this river special is its unique mix of amazing cliffs, rock formations, waterfalls, diverse plants and animals, ancient fossils, high water quality and relatively consistent flow from High Plains Aquifer. These things combine to make visiting the Niobrara a beautiful and memorable experience. Public river access areas include: Ft. Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge (day-use only, launch fee), Smith Falls State Park (fee), and Brewer Bridge (free, limited parking). Visitor Center open year-round, hours seasonal. Outfitter services are available seasonally (canoe, kayaking and inner tube rentals, transportation, private river access and camping) from private businesses. Public camping is available at Smith Falls State Park.
