11/21/19 Understanding Lodging Tax

Karen Barrett, from the Department of Revenue, will be informing us about the state lodging tax. She will explain who should be collecting lodging tax and what can be done if it is not being collected. She will answer pressing questions about Airbnbs and VRBOs such as 'Do they require a license to collect the proper taxes on room rentals?'. Karen will also discuss the different types of taxes - city occupation tax, lodging tax, and sales tax. She will explain when and how they are to be calculated.
