Nebraska Tourism Announces Community Impact Grant Program
Lincoln Neb, (March 3, 2016) The Nebraska Tourism Commission is pleased to announce that the Community Impact Grant guidelines are now available. The Community Impact Grant provides marketing assistance to communities, organizations and local tourism promotional groups hosting national or international caliber events. These events must have the potential to attract a significant percentage of out-of-state visitors and to generate favorable national or international press coverage for Nebraska, increasing exposure through advertising, marketing and promotional efforts. Events requesting grant funding in this program must take place between May 1, 2016 and May 1, 2017 to be eligible during this grant cycle.
Nebraska Tourism Commission Executive Director, Kathy McKillip said, “The Commission’s grant programs are very competitive and we are grateful that we can provide this type of funding for large caliber events that have tremendous economic impact on the host communities and the state as a whole.”
Just this past fall, more than $200,000 was awarded through the Community Impact Grant program to the Omaha Sports Commission for the 2016 US Olympic Team Swim Trials, the Omaha Equestrian Foundation for International Omaha and the Lincoln USBC Bowling Association for the World Tenpin Youth Bowling Championships in 2016. The community impact grants were first implemented in 2013, since then the Nebraska Tourism Commission has awarded more than $650,000 in funding to applicants.
