This county-wide public art display is a treasure hunt for art enthusiasts. Each of the 26 uniquely painted bee statues acts as a reminder of the importance of community and teamwork. On your way into town, pick up a map of the bees’ locations and see if you can find all 26 on your journey through Nemaha County.

 

Bone Creek Museum of Agrarian ArtDavid City

Celebrate agrarian art at the nation’s only museum exclusively specializing in art of the land, agriculture and rural life. Bone Creek’s mission is to connect people to the land through art. Visitors can enjoy pieces commemorating scenes of wildlife, farmland, natural landscapes and more.

Fun Fact: American visual artist Dale Nichols, whose work makes up a large portion of Bone Creek’s main collection, was born and raised in David City.

 

Gallery NineLincoln

Located in the renovated historic Mission Arts Building, this independent cooperative contains the unique work of local and regional artists. The gallery incorporates an eclectic collection of fine and contemporary art, ceramics, glass, photography and more. Plus, there’s a good chance that you’ll run into the artists who created the pieces on display in the gallery during your visit.

Cozy up with a good book at this local, independent bookstore located in mid-town Omaha. It has always been store owner Shelly Mutum’s passion to continue her parents’ 40-year-old family tradition. She took her dream and made it a reality by opening her own bookstore in Omaha’s historic downtown area. The shop is filled with new books and gift items, like puzzles, greeting cards and more.

For more than 15 years, Chapters Books & Gifts has stood on the corner of Seward’s historic downtown square and been a staple of the community. This locally-owned store sells books for all ages in a variety of genres, unique toys for kids, puzzles, games and other gift items.
