Omaha is sprawling with a diverse array of neighborhoods and sections that offer a surprise at every turn. The Omaha Old Market, a familiar favorite, is a historic cobblestone district packed with arts, entertainment and food and drink options. The RiverFront, which opened on the Missouri River in 2022, consists of three parks – Gene Leahy Mall, Heartland of America Park, and Lewis & Clark Landing – which range from downtown to the riverbank and is a flourishing haven for landscaping, robust public art and recreational diversity. Then, hop onto the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge to walk out over the river and get a picturesque look at the skyline.

With a deep history and a rich heritage, the city has no shortage of museums and cultural sites to learn the stories of the past. As the birthplace of figures like Malcolm X and Johnny Rodgers, Omaha is home to the Great Plains Black History Museum, which is an important site for the entire region. Step into the old Union Station at The Durham Museum and enjoy a rotating selection of world-class exhibits. For a modern twist the whole family will enjoy, explore natural phenomena through hands-on activities at Kiewit Luminarium. Or, enjoy long-standing favorites with new innovations, like the world-renowned Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium and the revamped Joslyn Art Museum.

An Event for Everyone

Omaha knows how to throw a party. Whether you’re after a street festival or you’re a sports nut, there is always something going on. Baseball fans flock to the College World Series at Charles Schwab Field is here every June. Cinco de Mayo Omaha is one of the region’s largest cultural celebrations. Head to North Omaha around Juneteenth for the Omaha Freedom Festival. Or, pack the CHI Health Center, which is hosts internationally renowned concerts and events all year round.
