Great Stops in the Metro Area

When you think of Nebraska, usually what comes to mind is flat land, college football and corn. However, most first-time visitors to Nebraska are surprised at the sprawling metro area around Omaha. With so much to do in such a small region, here are some of our recommendations.

El Museo Latino

1.    EL MUSEO LATINO

El Museo Latino is the only Latino Museum in Nebraska and the first in the Midwest. The art, history and educational destination exhibits are open year-round and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Bi-lingual guided tours are available with reservations.
Great Plains Black History Museum

2.    GREAT PLAINS BLACK HISTORY MUSEUM

The Great Plains Black History Museum is Nebraska's only museum focused on history told through the lens of African Americans. This museum's mission is to preserve, celebrate and educate all people about the contributions and achievements of African Americans throughout the Great Plains of America. It’s intimate, but you’ll never forget the eye-opening tour, the photographs and the history held within this space.
Monolithic Brewing

3.    MONOLITHIC BREWING

This family-owned craft brewery and taproom serves a variety of flavors and styles. Enjoy a rotating menu of light food fare as well as wines, cocktails, hard liquor and soda. Enjoy the wonderful staff, spacious indoor seating and patio that overlooks a pond with two water features.
Mormon Trail Center at Historic Winter Quarters

4.    MORMON TRAIL CENTER AT HISTORIC WINTER QUARTERS

Learn about the 70,000+ pioneers who traveled the Mormon Trail from Illinois through Nebraska to Utah. Explore a log cabin, pull a handcart, visit the Avard Fairbanks sculpture, take your photo by a full-sized covered wagon and see authentic pioneer artifacts.
Werner Park

5.    WERNER PARK

Werner Park is the home of the Royals Triple-A Affiliate, Omaha Storm Chasers, and the 2023 USL League One regular-season champions, Union Omaha. Enjoy a gameday, take a facility tour or pick up some merch at the Storm Front Team Store! Visit the team websites for game times and tickets.
