A message from Dean Savoca about INCREASE YOUR INFLUENCE: Eight Essential Attributes of Successful Leaders...
THANK YOU for letting me be part of the Nebraska Tourism Conference. I really enjoyed speaking to you on INCREASE YOUR INFLUENCE: Eight Essential Attributes of Successful Leaders.
While it’s only been a week or two, have you taken action on one area of your Wheel of Influence? I find that many people have insights during presentations like mine, but often don’t take action on those insights because, you guessed it, they’re too busy! I invite you to expand your influence by reflecting on your Wheel of Influence and committing to one area you’ll focus on for the next 30 days. It’s also a great way to start preparing for the new year.
Here you will find a bonus document that will provide some additional content and motivation.
Remember - before you can influence your employees, clients or your community, you first must influence yourself. Here are a couple easy ways you can take action now to build momentum from our time together:
- Find someone to continue the conversation and hold each other accountable. You can be part of each other’s Success Team.
- Connect with us on social media and tell me one area you are committed to growing as a leader in and one action you are committing to take. We are more likely to follow thorough when we commit to others and not just keep it to ourselves.
- Take one action…call a mentor, write down your vision, identify your strengths, start the habit of asking, “what am I grateful for?”
A message from Dean Savoca about LEAD LIKE A COACH: How to Develop and Lead a Rock Star Team....
THANK YOU for attending my session on LEAD LIKE A COACH: How to Develop and Lead a Rock Star Team at the Nebraska Tourism Conference a few weeks ago.
Too often we leave sessions like ours with great intentions about what we will do when we get back to the office, and nothing happens. Can you relate?
Thinking back on our session, have you thought about your action steps on:
- Growing to become a more effective leader/coach
- Using the strategies we discussed to coach someone on your own team
- Influencing the coaching/development culture in your organization
Remember, employees leave managers not organizations.
- Be the leader who invests in others by helping them to identify and use their strengths to accomplish your company’s goals.
- Be the leader that engages and retains the productive employees.
- Be the leader who stays on the sidelines and lets the team play.
If you have not already done so, I invite you to review your Leader as Coach assessment and identify key areas for development. You can also view a bonus document here from our session and here’s a link to my article, Be a Leader: 5 Components to Results Management. I also referenced an article in my talk, Building a Coaching Culture.

A message from speaker Jon Schmieder...
Nebraska Friends,
Thank you for your time to attend and participate in our sessions in Nebraska this week! It was great to spend some time with you all and talk about the awesome sports tourism market.
Per our discussions, below are a few follow ups….
- The PPT for our afternoon session can be found here.
- Safe Sport – Here is the link to Safe Sport, https://safesport.org/. This is something we suggest you and your staff all go through as it will eventually be required of nearly everyone that touches any event, Olympic level or not.
- The Eau Claire scoresheet they use to evaluate events and grant support for those events can be found here. This is the best one we have seen nationally and they have approved us to share it with folks around the country.
Let me know if you have any questions about our sessions, Safe Sport, or something in your own destination that we can help with.
Yours in Sport,
Jon Schmieder
